Este curso introdutório serve como uma porta de entrada para o mundo da codificação de dicionários, seguindo as diretrizes da Iniciativa de Codificação Textual (TEI), com ênfase especial na TEI Lex-0. Embora a flexibilidade das diretrizes TEI ofereça vantagens em várias circunstâncias, é essencial reconhecer que também apresentam desafios específicos no contexto da interoperabilidade.

Tendo alcançado popularidade como uma forma de publicar e aceder a dados em diferentes campos das ciências e para partilhar grandes conjuntos de dados enciclopédicos como o DBpedia (derivado da Wikipédia), os dados vinculados estão a tornar-se cada vez mais populares em diferentes áreas das humanidades.
